The story
An asteroid the size of Texas is heading directly toward earth 22,000 MPH. NASA's executive director, Dan Truman, has only one option - to send up a crew to destory the asteroid. He enlists the help of Harry S. Stamper (Bruce Willis) - the world's foremost deep core oil driller - and Stamper's roughneck team of drillers to land on the asteroid, drill into its surface, and drop a nuclear device into the core. On this heroic journey, they face the most physically and emotionally challenging conditions ever encountered ... to save the world and prevent Armageddon

About the Movie
Armageddon is a fairly effective summer action blockbuster from the director of The Rock and Pearl Harbor (both Disney): Michael Bay! Grossing more than 200 million dollars domestically during its initial box office run in 1998, Bay's loud, fast spectacle is a love-it or hate-it archetype of the big budget studio action film at the century's end.

Made with lots of money ( million!), a strong cast and tons of special effects, ARMAGEDDON tells the tale of a team of oilmen called in by the president to land on a Texas-sized asteroid approaching Earth and blast it into pieces before it ends life as we know it. Huge plot holes, some of the quickest cutting seen in film, and occasionally unconvincing special effects will not deter those who approach it seeking two and a half hours of full-throttle, flag waving cinematic rush.
The comic lines are generally entertaining, and the special effects of a very high quality.
